6. The Death Of Venom
Sixth issues of Venom books are starting to develop a trend for shocks to the system. Last year, Vol. 3 surprisingly came to a head with the return of the symbiote to Eddie Brock, but Vol. 4 has gone even further.
The main premise behind Don Cates and Ryan Stegman's Venom has been the ongoing battle between Venom and the God of the Symbiotes - and it has been brutal.
While it was neat that Eddie and Venom fused with Rex to battle Knull the God Symbiote, it was apparent that Rex would die, and he does so by tackling Knull into a furnace. Yet, that would only work if the door to the furnace was closed. Eddie Brock uses the symbiote to turn off his pain receptors and then tells it to leave but it won't. The Venom symbiote stays with Eddie as they both save the day, killing Knull except it was too much for the symbiote.
Venom has been a lethal protector and a brain eating villain but when the symbiote's last words before seeming to die are "I should have told you... I love you, Eddie." and then Eddie crying out because he can't feel their connection anymore is just soul crushing and amazing!
