Gabby Rivera and Joe Quinones' book about young LGBTQ hero America Chavez is everything a Marvel book should be: fun, diverse, and culturally salient. It also has a fantastic creative team, with Rivera herself being a Latinx QTPOC writer, and Quinones being, well, a fantastic artist all around.

The book follows America Chavez, AKA Miss America, when she's not kicking holes in time or being an Avenger. In that sense it's very much a character-driven tale, and Rivera obviously has an eye for the hero. Quinones' pencils also pop and burst off the page much the same they did in his work on Paul Dini's Black Canary/Zatanna OGN, which lends the book a unique but also consistent style many of its contemporaries fail to match.

Like Black Panther and the Crew, Gabby Rivera's America stands tall as being among the most important works in the medium this year. Revolutionary on and off the page, it's the type of book that you want to see Marvel publish more of. We can only hope that more is set to come.
