2. Planet Of The Apes: The Simian Age #1

Planet Of The Apes Simian Age
Boom! Studios

Planet of the Apes is one of the most well-known films in history. BOOM! Studios celebrates over fifty years of influence with an anthology set throughout the history of the Planet of the Apes!

Mother of Exiles is from Jeff Jensen with illustrations from Jared Cullum, and we follow Amy in her sad, lonely days tending the former-Statue of Liberty lighthouse.

Apex is written by Matt Kindt, art by Matt Smith and is colored by Joana Lafuente. Apex is a soldier ape, trained for the single purpose of killing and capturing escaped or wild humans. That all changes when he finally has a human at point blank range. Another reflective piece, this time leaning towards the revolutionary mindset and how meeting the so-called enemy can change someone's views.

The final story is Cloud and Rain, written by Ryan Ferrier, illustrations by Lalit Kumar Sharma and colors by Gabriel Cassata. Cloud and Rain are two ape friends torn between the truth of Caesar and the hate of Koba during the Ape Uprising period. This is a story that could define this book, seeing the split between these two friends due to differing ideologies, and the pain that can come from that.
