10 Best Comic First Issues This Week (Dec 26, 2018)
1. Infinite Wonders #1
Infinite Wonders is a wonder to read. Yes, it is an easy twist of the title but honestly, that is the best way to describe this. In just 24 pages, three stories play out that utterly ooze the joys of being a creator.
The first is about a strange night on the town for teen sidekick Nolan because a musical is being made of another superhero, Mr. Wonder. Then there's The Oddballs which is just a comedy story that is weird in the best ways. Finally, there's a very special Pink Lemonade story.
It is hard to pinpoint what makes a title FEEL a certain way. The writing is realistic but never loses a certain sparkle, even if the night goes a bit sideways, in the first story. The sheer glee of The Oddballs kept me smiling and I have nothing but praise for the Pink Lemonade story.
The art intensifies those feelings because even if it isn't a polished piece, it matches for a perfect complement. So saying that this book feels like it sparkles without needing to try and be deep is a positive to no end.
