10 Best New Marvel Characters Of The 21st Century

9. Bob, Agent Of Hydra

Spider-Man Miles Morales

The new characters aren’t all bonkers, but with Gwenpool and Bob, there does seem to be a pattern forming. Both characters have links to Deadpool too, with Bob acting as the Merc With The Mouth’s sidekick.

Considering Deadpool has received a revival this century after becoming a bit cringey in the ‘90s, it shouldn’t be a surprise. With meta going mainstream, Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe getting traction and the Ryan Reynolds movies enjoying huge popularity, Deadpool is back amongst the big boys.

He hasn’t quite taken Bob, Agent Of Hydra along for the ride, but since his debut in 2007 he’s gained a cult following. A minor cameo in the first Deadpool film didn’t really do anything for him, but the comics have offered him more leeway.

Bob is basically a coward who only joins Hydra after being nagged into it by his wife, and ends up disappointed when they don’t offer coverage on a dental plan. Deadpool takes him hostage and convinces him to switch teams, which doesn’t take much work.

From then on out, Bob pops up during Deadpool’s wacky adventures, hindering as much as he helps, providing some comic relief; not that Deadpool really needs any.
