10 Best New Marvel Characters Of The 21st Century

7. Kate Bishop

Spider-Man Miles Morales
Marvel Comics

Kate Bishop has only been around for four years, but in that time she’s lead two superhero teams and is still growing stronger. With her set to feature heavily in the Disney+ Hawkeye show, she’s a star in the making and her stock could skyrocket in the next five years.

Working under the guidance of Hawkeye, himself a popular if bubbling under character, Bishop has excelled. Taking up the Hawkeye moniker, Bishop debuted as the leader of the Young Avengers in 2005. By 2018, she’d taken up the reins of the new West Coast Avengers too, following in her mentor’s footsteps.

The Young Avengers introduced some great characters into the Marvel canon, with a lot unlucky to miss the cut here and one more featuring higher up the list. Bishop is a fantastic leader, but it’s actually this which might be dragging her ranking down slightly.

Bishop is straight as an arrow, and has a bit of a everywoman thing going on. That makes her an ideal candidate to carry narratives, but some of the more superfluous, eccentric characters might be more popular despite less page time.

Bishop does her job perfectly, but unfortunately that’s keeping her outside of the top five.
