8. Aquaman
Nowadays, people thankfully know Aquaman as more than just the guy that talks to fish. The true King of Atlantis is so much more, and his villains illustrate why he’s on this list.
One of the most notable is Black Manta, who revealed the reason he had for wanting Atlantis was to provide a safe-haven for the oppressed black people of the surface world.
However, Manta would have to displace Atlantis' current residents - the Atlanteans - to do this, and that didn’t sit well with Aquaman.
He has battled several others as well, including the likes of the Dead King, Fisherman, the Trench, the Thirst, Siren, Nereus, the Eel, and Black Jack. Aquaman has also experienced run-ins with the mythological character known as Triton before.
Yet his biggest villain is his own half-brother, Orm, as he killed their mother in his own thirst for the crown. After doing this, he became a notable and powerful villain known as Oceanmaster. The two have battled for years, giving Aquaman some of the best comic book runs in the process.
