10 Best Superhero Bromances

3. Blue Beetle & Booster Gold

A successor to the Blue Beetle mantle, Ted Kord was a genius inventor with a wisecracking personality. In the 80s as a member of the Justice League, he was often paired with Michael Jon Carter, a time traveling superhero named Booster Gold. With the Beetle usually being short on cash and Booster interested in making a quick buck, the two often collaborated on get-rich-quick schemes, such as becoming superhero repo men or trying to construct an island gaming resort. Often called Blue and Gold when they€™re paired up, their particular brand of goofball humor characterized the irreverent nature of the Giffen/DeMatteis run on the Justice League books. But humor is apparently against the law in the New 52, so we don€™t see much of these guys any more. Ted was killed off in the prelude to Infinite Crisis and was replaced by a younger Blue Beetle, Jaime Reyes. In the New 52, Ted only recently appeared as a civilian. Booster Gold and the Reyes Blue Beetle were depicted (poorly) in an episode of Smallville. Beyond that, it€™s unlikely we€™ll see a Blue and Gold movie any time in the near future, as Warner Bros appears to want to make their superhero universe completely absent of anything resembling fun.
