10 Best Superhero Friendships You Never Knew Existed
5. Spider-man And Agent Anti-Venom
Since Spider-Man reboots are and retcons are more common than funny moments in the cartoons, it's perhaps not surprising that many fans don't keep up with the entire timelines and story arcs of every character in Peter Parker's life.
However, one that's important to remember - and yet seems to go totally under the radar - is that of Flash Thompson.
Many only know of Thompson's early life, as he infamously bullied Peter throughout their time in school together. Others may know that the two became friends during university, but still know little about what happened after that.
As those who have read the newer comics (or at least those that came out in 2018) know, Flash would eventually become the hero known as Agent Anti-Venom, and would work along Spider-Man - but wouldn't connect the dots between this hero and his dorky pal.
In Amazing Spider-Man #800, however, Thompson finally puts the pieces together - or, rather, would hear Spider-Man be called "Pete" and realise the obvious. This makes it all the sadder when the veteran gets so damaged in the pair's fight with Osborne that he ends up dying, his last words commending Peter for all that he's done in his time as Spider-Man.
Flash's friendship with Peter - and then with Spider-Man - is absolutely integral to his growth as a character, and to the tragedy of his death. On the plus side, it's safe to say both individuals had become heroes by the end.
