10 Best Supervillain Headquarters In Comics

1. Apokolips

Doctor Doom Latveria
DC Comics

The planet Apokolips and the entire Fourth World was created by legendary comic book creator Jack Kirby and first appeared in New Gods #1 in 1971. Apokolips is an ecumenopolis, a planet covered by a single city that is ruled by the despot Darkseid. The planet is essentially a giant engine, potted with huge fire pits that shoot out into space. These are perpetually fed by the downtrodden citizens of the planet, known alternately as the Lowlies or the Hunger Dogs.

Laughter, love, and joy are outlawed on Apokolips. Darkseid is the only god there and there is only one doctrine: “Darkseid is.”

The despot rules from his palace in the middle of the Armagetto, Apokolips’ only city. His chief torturer DeSaad is the only one that gets close to Darkseid without his express permission, and even the sadistic second-in-command has found himself destroyed and recreated by the villain on numerous occasions.

It is extremely unlikely for Darkseid to kill someone himself. Even though the act of killing someone is simply glancing at them with his Omega Beams and disintegrating them, most people are simply beneath the Apokoliptian leader’s notice. The Female Furies might be deployed, but this elite team isn’t wasted on just anyone. It’s more than likely that if the Lord of Apokolips wants you dead, a squad of parademons will be more than enough.
