3. Legion Of Doom’s Base

Doctor Doom Latveria
DC Comics

The base of the Legion of Doom, often called the Hall of Doom, was first seen on the Challenge of the Super Friends episode “Wanted: The Super Friends” on September 9, 1978, and was later introduced into the comics for the first time in Extreme Justice #17 in 1996. The Legion of Doom, or sometimes the Injustice League, is a collection of villains assembled to oppose the Justice League of America.

The Hall of Doom is meant to be the villain equivalent of the Washington D.C.-based Hall of Justice. The huge and vaguely helmet-shaped structure raises and lowers into a hidden area of Slaughter Swamp just outside Gotham City, and it has rockets that can propel it into the air and even into space. In the interior, there is a huge meeting area with a semi-circular table for each person to sit at and a podium in the center for the leader to conduct the meeting.

In addition to being the base for the Legion, the design for the Hall of Doom was used for the Gulag built by Mister Miracle in Kingdom Come to imprison the out-of-control and violent younger generation of heroes and villains. It was far larger on the inside and had architecture from Themyscira, though that proved to be a bad idea and it was destroyed by Captain Marvel.
