5. Lois Lane's The New Superwoman - Really She Dies

DC Rebirth's Superwoman was advertised as being about Lois Lane as Superwoman working alongside Lana Lang. In an interview with writer Jimenez he talked about this initial premise saying, "I love the idea that not one, but two characters can hold a mantle... Part of it was a little nod to Superman: Red and Superman: Blue. And I knew that I wanted a team."

In issue #1 we learn that Lois isn't the only Superwoman - Lana absorbed Superman's powers, as well. Lois has the traditional powers of Superman and Lana has powers similar to electric Superman.

The story seemed to be about Lois learning the ropes of being a hero, set against the backdrop of her and Lana's friendship. So, it was a shock when, after all that build up, Lois was swiftly killed off in the first issue.

The series could have been advertised as what was: Lana, as Superwoman, teaming up with Steel - which was still a neat idea for a series.

Instead, readers were dangled with the promise of Lois Lane as Superwoman, and a story about two female friends fighting crime together in the vein of the Superman/Batman comics. So Lois's death seemed a doubly disappointing bait and switch.

West loves pop culture, movies, comics and TV-shows just as much as you do. Probably. Since you're reading this. Also, she has a cat. He's pretty awesome.
