As the 'normal human' of the shows and films, April O'Neil always seemed like the one regular character in the series. Amongst a sea of anthropomorphic animals, dinosaurs and aliens, she remained the most ordinary figure. Even when Casey was introduced, he was exceedingly eccentric - whereas April was entertaining, but comparatively regular.

Then it was revealed that April was made from a magic gem inside a fountain pen, and suddenly she seemed a little bit different. As it turns out, April's parents were unable to have children, and thus resorted to the natural back-up plan of using a magical crystal which can draw things to life to create a child.

In a messed up twist, it turns out April isn't their first attempt at drawing a child to life, as the pair tried to draw a baby into their lives several times, only for these drawn children to fade out of existence.

Weirder still, it's just... never brought up again. The story doesn't exist for an overarching plot, it exists explicitly to creep you out by turning the life of the series' most normal character on her head. Her drawn, crystalline head.
