Chris Claremont, the godfather of X-Men comics, self-inserted himself into X-comics on more than one occasion. Apparently if you write a book for 15 years, you get a little leeway with that sort of thing.

The most memorable of these appearances was in Excalibur: Mojo Mayhem, which has him traveling with some fellow comic book creators to a book signing somewhere in England. Kitty Pryde, who is trying to protect a children version of the X-Men called the X-Babies (long story), stops their car and commandeers the vehicle, assuring the group it's an emergency. Some brief hilarity ensues, ultimately leaving Chris and his fellow comic creatives stranded on a British road in the middle of nowhere.

It's good to see Chris had a sense of humor with his books. You can almost picture him pitching this to his co-creators, giggling all the while. But you would think having co-created and developed much of what was the X-Men at that point in time would earn Chris a little respect from his creations.
