10 Most Bizarre Things In Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 8 & 9

7. Buffy Meets Fray...200 Years In The Future

Wait, Buffy the Vampire Slayer doesn't sound like a sci-fi series...Sure, there have been episodes where demons have been scanned into computers, invisibility guns and more robots and cyborgs than you can count, but primarily it's a horror/comedy/coming-of-age high school drama, right? Not always. Back in 2001, Joss Whedon and Karl Moline created Fray: Future Slayer, an eight-issue miniseres set 200 years in the future that focused on Fray, the vampire slayer of her time who did battle with her twin-turned vampire brother and bounced around on flying cars. The story was designed to be set so far apart from the regular Buffyverse that the two couldn't possibly interact, but Joss clearly couldn't help himself and sent Buffy hurtling into the future in Season 8 for a classic misunderstanding/fight/team-up between his two creations. There's a whole host of weirdness to be had in the four-issue story, but the icing on the cake is probably Buffy being forced to kill a centuries-old Dark Willow only to return to the present and be faced with her still-breathing and decidedly light best friend.
