Yeah yeah, big woop. The Death Of Wolverine actually ended up being not half bad, thanks to the writing dynamism of Charles Soule and remarkable artwork by Steve McNiven. It probably didnt need to be a whole four issue miniseries, however, given the ending was given up top in the title; nor did it need to have quite so many countless tie-ins and all that hype in the months preceding it. Ultimately readers were mostly cold on the book because, really, Wolverines dead? Really? How longs that gonna last? Captain America barely stayed in the ground a year after his assassination at the end of Civil War, and that was before he was even a character played by a loveable hunk in a movie. Wolverines got a good decade of Hugh Jackman popularity under his belt, along a few more as a fan-favourite member of the X-Men whos guest starred in every series going (his Ms Marvel cameo was pretty fun). Nobody believes for a second that Wolverine is going to stay dead for long. The current status quo might see an alignment-swapped Sabretooth standing in for him, and a bunch of Logan-related characters teaming up in Wolverines, but the man himself is going to be back before too long. If not this year, then its a safe bet hes going to be alive and kicking in the comics in time for the next X-Men movie.
