2. Korvac
The original Guardians of the Galaxy don't have much in the way of iconic villains. Korvac is one who stands out though.
Michael Korvac was a human from the 31st Century who collaborated with the invading Badoon and worked for them as a technician. However, when he was found asleep at his station, his masters betrayed him and transplanted the upper half of his body onto a machine.
Korvac got his revenge by using the machine to give himself vast powers. After killing his masters, he swore to conquer the entire universe. He was eventually stopped by the Guardians and, fleeing from them, Korvac travelled to the 20th Century. It was there that he encountered Galactus and used the Devourer's technology to boost his powers to godlike levels.
The Guardians travelled back in time as well and teamed up with the Avengers to stop him. However, even their combined might wasn't enough to defeat Korvac and he was only brought down when he saw that the love of his life, a woman named Carina, was afraid of him. Realising that he had gone too far, Korvac killed himself.
It's one of the seminal Guardians of the Galaxy stories and would be a great way to follow up the epic team up of the Guardians and Avengers in Infinity War.
