There's something just bizarre enough about Detective Chimp to make him awesome, yet he's played just on the right side of seriousness to make him valid. With his deerstalker hat at the ready, Detective Chimp is the simian answer to Sherlock Holmes in the pages of the DC Universe. It's a brilliant concept, delightfully embracing the humor that oozes off it. There's literally no way you could play a Detective Chimp movie straight, so you'd have to go for broke and revel in the absurdity of it all. In recent years, Detective Chimp has become a bit more prominent in the DC Comics events, including Infinite Crisis. He's a valuable member of the DC roster, which makes him natural for inclusion into the DCU, where you could fully take advantage of him. It's hard to imagine a Detective Chimp movie, filled with all kinds of Sherlock Holmes references and a murder mystery, and not walk away with a smile. You could definitely embrace a lot of the ridiculousness of it all, creating a movie that stands on its own as unique, yet connected to the overall DCU.
