10 Comic Book Characters That Broke Wolverine

The story, Old Man Logan, takes place in a dystopian future. In this series, Wolverine is one of the few superheroes who is still alive but he has retired from his violent ways. There was an incident that occurred in the past where “the heroes fell” and “the bad guys have been calling the shots ever since”.

When Hawkeye asks what happened, Wolverine tells him of the incident that made him refuse to “raise his voice or pop his claws in close to 50 years.”

Decades ago, a slew of supervillains burst into the X-Men mansion and attacked Wolverine. Logan couldn't locate any of his teammates, forcing him to eliminate the threat himself. For hours, he battled criminals like Mister Hyde, Lady Deathstrike, Omega Red, Mister Sinister, Sabretooth, Klaw, and Stryfe.

When Wolverine seemed to have slain the last one, he realised something was wrong. There were no supervillains. The master illusionist, Mysterio, used his powers so Wolverine thought he was fighting his enemies when he is actually murdering the X-Men.

Logan was so devastated, he punished himself by allowing a train to drive over his head. Although Logan survived, as far as he was concerned, Wolverine was dead.
