10 Comic Book Characters Who Keep Changing Identities
4. Captain Marvel(s) - Eight Superhero Identities
Carol Danvers is one of those people whose identity changes all the time. In one issue, she's just Carol Danvers, but in another, she's Ms. Marvel. When she got tired of that title, she shifted to Binary, which came with an impressive augmentation of her powers.
When Binary didn't work for her any longer, she shifted to Warbird, which she kept for 14 years. Eventually, she came back as Captain Marvel, which is the identity she's best known for these days. Captain Marvel is a name that jumps from person to person in the Marvel Universe.
It originally went to Mar-Vell, but shifted to Monica Rambeau in 1982, which was long before Carol Danvers' assumption of the identity in 2012. Rambeau is another person who has a hard time settling on a name with her list of identities running as long as Danvers'.
Rambeau started out as Captain Marvel in 1982, but by 1996, she was going as Photon. This lasted until 2005, when she traded in her Photon identity to become Pulsar. Seeing as Ms. Danvers was running around the universe as Captain Marvel, Rambeau decided to call herself Spectrum in 2013. If you exclude all of the other Captain Marvels in the Marvel Universe besides these two women, they had a total of eight identities.
