10 Comic Book Characters Who Keep Changing Identities

3. Peter Parker - Nine Superhero Identities

Characters Who Keep Changing
Marvel Comics

Peter Parker started out as a teenage superhero who battled crooks and the common cold before being elevated to become one of the most important and influential superheroes in all of Marvel Comics. Since his debut, Parker remained as Spider-Man, with little more than a "Spectacular" or "Amazing" thrown into his title for good measure.

Over the years, he has changed his superhero identity a number of times, and while most of these happened, and were quickly forgotten, some endured thanks to the Clone Saga and other crossover hijinks inflicted upon Marvel's fandom in the 1990s.

During the Identity Crisis storyline, Parker abandoned Spider-Man to become four separate superheroes at once. These were Ricochet, Dusk, Hornet, and Prodigy. When Identity Crisis came to a close, Pete returned to his regular threads, but it wouldn't be the only time he opted to be called something else.

Unlike the MCU, he's never been "Night Monkey" in the comics, but he has been called Poison, Pestilence, Captain Universe, and even the Bombastic Bag-Man, which he picked up while wearing a spare Fantastic Four costume equipped with a paper sack for a mask.
