10 Comic Book Characters Who Wouldn't Translate To Live-Action Movies

8. Big Bertha

Dazzler Marvel
Marvel Comics

Big Bertha is the antithesis of body positivity. She has the ability to control her body's own adipose tissue and uses this ability to make herself a famous supermodel. On concept alone, Big Bertha is a tough sell to a modern test audience.

Bertha was born Ashley Crawford, whose mutant ability also gives her super strength and durability. The downside, of course, to her larger state is that her stamina greatly suffers.

Big Bertha was also a member of Tony Stark's "C" team, Great Lakes Avengers. Bertha's modeling career funded the GLA, and her penthouse was the initial GLA headquarters. For perspective, a young woman, who has total control of her body fat, is valued because she earns enough money as a supermodel to fund the team that values her obesity when they need her to fight.

As a superhero, Bertha's contributions had so little impact, she and the rest of the Great Lakes Avengers were fired from being heroes.

Deadpool, a representative of the Avengers Unity Division, met with the GLA to inform them they were to cease their mediocre heroism and to stop using the Avengers name. Not one to mince words, the Merc with a Mouth explained that people "simply didn't like" them.
