10 Comic Book Characters Who Wouldn't Translate To Live-Action Movies
7. Stone Boy
There are a few literal names on this list, and Stone Boy is no exception. If he were "Stone Thrower", he may have a useful talent. "Stone Melter" would even be more of an asset than Stone Boy. Dag Wentim, the man known as Stone Boy, you guessed it, turns to stone.
Ben Grimm turned to stone and became The Thing! Turning into living stone can't be all bad. The rub is that Stone Boy cannot move in his hardened form. He is essentially a super paperweight.
If DC comics had their version of Great Lakes Avengers, it would be The Legion of Substitute Heroes. He had been rejected by Justice League "B" team The Legion of Superheroes (a team that accepted Matter Eater Lad... just sayin') because his powers weren't considered useful. One must assume they had no use for someone who could be a big, heavy rock.
Relegated to the lowest common denominator, Stone Boy joined his true peers in The Legion of Substitute Heroes. Their roster reads like the Cleveland Indians' lineup in Major League. Stone Boy can still be found kicking around with the LSH, waiting for that call from Hollywood that's never coming.
