10 Comic Book Tie-Ins That Made Great Movies Better

5. Mad Max: Fury Road

Die Hard Year One
DC Vertigo

The rust-punk franchise of Mad Max has garnered immense acclaim and the latest installment, Mad Max: Fury Road, was even nominated for 10 Academy Awards.

The latest film, though grand in scope, is the personal tales of the main cast of characters without giving proper backstory to any of the scenarios. That is where this volume comes in. It explains the origins of Nux and Immortan Joe, as well as proper prequel material with Furiosa and the Five Wives, explaining their relationship and the build to the inciting incident of Fury Road, and a two-part adventure with Max himself, set in between the previous film, Beyond Thunderdome, and Fury Road.

Though not necessary to make Fury Road enjoyable, it just makes the film even greater with a new understanding of the characters in it.
