Right now, emo kids of the '90s around the world are rejoicing at the long-awaited reunion of My Chemical Romance. At the same time, fans of The Umbrella Academy on Netflix are rejoicing at the trailer for the upcoming third season of the show. As it turns out, both these sets of fans have the same man to thank.

Most popular for the likes of 'The Black Parade' and 'Teenagers' as the frontman for MCR, Gerard Way enjoyed a nice change of pace in 2007 when Dark Horse released his limited series, The Umbrella Academy, to critical acclaim.

Cataloguing the misadventures of Reginald 'The Monocle' Hargreeves and his adopted family of super-powered children, the story, characters, and unique style of the comic book helped it stand out immediately. Even now, 15 years later, the story isn't yet complete.

With just three series of the book released so far, there are plans for a fourth that would be titled The Sparrow Academy. Of course, fans of the show already know that this will be the main plot thread for the third season, so hopefully this won't be reminiscent of when Game of Thrones overtook its source material and faced an unprecedented decline.
