The Battle for the Cowl event explored what it truly meant to be the Batman.

Gotham had collapsed into a gang war between Penguin and Two-Face while Black Mask broke everyone out of Arkham. The place was a mess and to top it off Jason Todd was running around gunning people down as "Batman".

Someone had to step up to take on the role of The Dark Knight, and Tim Drake knew that. After urging, reasoning and practically begging for Nightwing to accept his role as Batman's successor, Tim grew tired of his big bro's excuses and decided enough was enough.

Tim stole one of Bruce's earliest costumes, opting for the classic blue and grey tights. This choice perfectly summed up Tim's character, as all he wanted was to bring some hope back to Gotham's citizens, even if he was a bit naive to do so.

Fooling absolutely no one, the Boy Wonder soon discovered that it isn't easy being the Bat, and was soon almost fatally wounded by an enraged Jason Todd.
