Well, the same can be said of Batman, the playboy eccentric billionaire is merely a facade as the real Bruce Wayne is entirely consumed by his Batman persona.

One of the only people daring enough to go after Batman's true identity is none other than Bruce's childhood bestie, Thomas Elliot. Instead of attacking Batman in his element, Thomas goes for Bruce's more fragile mask in an attempt to destroy his life.

Thomas' whole revenge scheme was born out of jealously of Bruce. As a child, he had actually plotted the deaths of both of his parents to gain the inheritance. His mother managed to survive the "accident" thanks to the expert skills of the surgeon Thomas Wayne but she remained at death's door for some time.

After finding out both of Bruce's parents had died and the young billionaire inherited all of their fortunes, Thomas then dedicated his life to ruining Bruce's. Growing up to be an expert surgeon himself, he constructed and the grafted a version of Bruce Wayne's face, replacing his own entirely.

Going by the name of Hush, he was also defeated by being shot and flung into Gotham's harbour. They should really invest in some railings there.
