1. Lex Luthor

Lex Luthor Justice League
DC Comics

When the Crime Syndicate trapped the Justice League in Firestorm's Matrix, there weren't enough superheroes to stand against them. After the world fell into disarray, Lex Luthor took it upon himself to put an end to the Syndicate's tyranny.

Although he was assisted by Batman and a horde of supervillains, it was Luthor who saved the Justice League and single-handedly killed the Syndicate's leader. Despite being Superman's most recurring enemy, Luthor saved the Kryptonian's life, knowing it would be an epic PR move.

With the world cheering on Luthor, he saw this as the perfect opportunity to push his way into the Justice League. However, Batman refused to have Luthor join their ranks, knowing he would destroy the team from within.

Luthor marched to Wayne Manor and informed Bruce Wayne that he had deduced his secret identity and implied he would go public unless he was allowed into the League.

Despite the fact Luthor is one of the most corrupt and malevolent people to ever walk the Earth, Batman had to accept him into their lineup, knowing a rejection would tarnish their reputation and jeopardise his secret identity.
