Batman has always been one of DC comics' greatest creations, and has undeniably stood the test of time. He has stayed as popular as he has ever been since he first came to life in 1939, however he hasn't always had the best of luck with his sidekicks.

Damian Wayne has a complicated heritage to say the least, as the test tube child of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, and suffered something of a conflicting personality because of it. While he wanted to help Batman, there was possibly too much of his mother and grandfather in his blood.

When he was first introduced as Batman's son, much like Booster Gold, Damian's personality prevented him from being likeable. He was spoiled, arrogant, and violent, and immediately looked to take Tim Drake's place as Robin by his dad's side. He also broke Batman's no killing rule almost immediately.

Damian's personality wasn't the only reason fans couldn't take to the character when he was first introduced, he was actually sent to Batman by Talia al Ghul as little more than a distraction. Despite all this however, the fifth Robin somehow still managed to eventually carve himself a legacy as one of the most popular characters introduced by DC in recent memory.
