10 Comics Every Music Lover Should Read

8. PUNKROCKPAPERSCISSORS

Black Flag Concert Poster Before the internet was around to help promote shows - bands had paper, pens and telegraph poles. 'PUNKROCKPAPERSCISSORS' is less a comic, more a reference / coffee table book of handmade show posters, and even though the days of grassroots flyering are pretty much long gone, it should still resonate with the inner musician inside ever reader. The '80s punk scene doesn't really get enough credit these days. As a movement, it gave the world Dead Kennedys, The Misfits, Minor Threat, GBH, Agnostic Front, the mighty Black Flag and hundreds of others. These bands are responsible for not only genre defining albums, but the timeless punk aesthetic. From Raymond Pettibon's iconic Black Flag designs, to The Misfits' lo-fi, horror driven approach - 'PUNKROCKPAPERSCISSORS' is a meditation on the evolution of modern punk and a study into a 'time and a place', grassroots musical counter-culture that, due to the influence of modern technology, will probably never happen again.
