10 Comics Heroes Who Broke Their Mentor's Rules

2. Jason Todd

Robin Batman
DC Comics

When it comes to rules, Batman is the hero with the most concrete selection. Or rather, the most concrete one, as his 'no-kill' rule is perhaps one of the most well known things about him.

And so, when it's revealed that Jason Todd - Batman's former Robin, who was killed by the Joker and then made significantly less dead - has turned a new, pro-murder leaf, the Dark Knight is naturally devastated.

Todd breaking this rule under the new mantle of the Red Hood does make totally sense though. Given he literally died to a supervillain, it's only natural that when he's brought back, he's more than a little bitter about the fact that his murderer has essentially gotten off scot-free.

Though indiscriminately slaying anyone who looks vaguely shady isn't exactly a baller plan, you also can't totally fault Jason for changing his MO a little after the whole 'beaten to death by a crowbar' thing.
