10 Comics That Saved Hated Characters

3. Damian - Batman Incorporated #9

Damian Wayne Robin Batman
DC Comics

It's safe to say that, upon introduction of Damian in Batman #656, the majority of fans considered him something of a pretentious, emotionally repressed brat.

Had no writer ever taken the time to focus on Damian's character development, this would still likely be the way most people regarded the youngest Robin. But with Damian's noble efforts in Batman Incorporated #9 - and subsequent death at the hands of his evil twin The Heretic - it was difficult not to grow a soft spot for the youngest Robin.

Not only does Damian ultimately sacrifice himself in order to protect others from his clone, but it is immediately apparent at the start of the fight that his intentions are non-violent - as he repeatedly asks The Heretic to step down and let him speak to his mother, who he hopes to talk things out with.

Seeing Damian literally give his all - even if he was eventually brought back - is almost scientifically crafted to make you kind of love the little terror, even with all his flaws.
