10 Comics That Turned Out Nothing Like You Expected

9. Nextwave: Agents Of Hate

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Marvel Comics

Nextwave: Agents of Hate is a paradox of sorts. Known as merely Nextwave when the very first issue came out, Nextwave would go on to be known as Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E from issue three.

While this doesn't sound like a big deal - because on a practical level it's not, and was merely done to avoid trademark issues - it's also more than a little confusing, because if you come into the series after hearing it called Agents of H.A.T.E, you're going to be surprised when you find out they quit H.A.T.E altogether. In the first issue.

This in mind, if you go into the comic expecting for cool super-powered government agents - or maybe even secret agents - you're in for shock to the system, because that is decidedly not what is up.

There is Fin Fang Foom though, if that lessens the blow for you at all.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
