10 Comics To Make Haters Love Comics Again

5. Absolute Carnage

Batman Reading DC
Marvel Comics

You could hate Spider-Man, Venom, and maybe even reading, and Absolute Carnage could still easily appeal to you. It's fast-paced, it's action-filled, and - best of all - it makes the often confusing concept of symbiotes like Venom significantly more understandable, so you don't have to study like some kind of PhD student just to figure out what the hell a 'Klyntar' even is.

If there's one talent that Donny Cates has continually shown in his work, it's his ability to take people in unusual circumstances, and make them completely relatable, all the while using them to smooth out any previously unexplained concepts. Combine this with one of the most interesting and high-stakes storylines that Eddie Brock and Venom have had in years, and you've an almost dangerously good series on your hands.

Even better, while there are tie-in series based around various characters in the comic, none of them are vital to understand the plot of Absolute Carnage itself - which is perfect, as it allows you to get that little extra dosage of your favourite characters, while also not demanding you shill out money on comics you may not be as interested in.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
