10 Comics Villains Humiliated By The Joker

4. Red Skull

Bane Joker
Marvel Comics / DC Comics

Another gem from the heady days of inter-company crossovers, this was a wonderful story set during World War 2, when Captain America and Batman teamed up to take on the Nazis in general, and the team of Joker and Red Skull specifically.

Bruce and Steve team up to figure out what Joker is doing with an extremely large bomb that is being delivered to an unknown villain group. What we all eventually find out is that Joker is delivering this massive weapon to the Red Skull, and, by extension, the Nazis. Red Skull is so pleased at the results of the Joker's work that he lets him know that Hitler himself wants to reward the Clown Prince for his efforts.

We then get one of those lovely twists that comic fans love so much. The Joker, who believed the Red Skull to be just another costumed villain, is appalled when he learns that he has been working with a Nazi. As he says, 'I may be a criminal lunatic, but I'm an AMERICAN criminal lunatic.'

Joker later helps our heroes sabotage the Skull's plans and fail his mission in spectacular fashion.

Even The Joker has a line he won't cross, and no creep in a red mask will make convince him.
