10 Comics Villains Who Had The Best Debuts

2. Doomsday

Joker First Appearance HQ
DC Comics

An unstoppable killing machine with a one track mind for destruction, it took Dan Jurgens, Brett Breeding, Jerry Ordway, Louise Simonson, and Roger Stern to bring him to life.

Dressed in what could only be described as a green burlap sack, as well as a pair of fetching steampunk goggles, Doomsday left a trail of scorched earth behind him as he headed into Metropolis. Automobiles, trees, and even tiny little birds would be exploded, punched, and crushed by the big grey monster as he prepared for his battle against Superman. And when it finally happened it would be one of the most defining moments in DC's history.

There is no real need to go over how the idea to kill off Big Blue was first brought up again, but suffice to say, if you plan on making such a big statement, then you need a character that could pull it off, and in Doomsday DC hit comic book gold.

A weapon with one single purpose, Doomsday was a loaded gun pointed straight at Superman's iconic curl, and when the trigger was finally pulled, it would be a shot heard around the world.
