10 Comics You Should Re-Read As An Adult

7. Amethyst: Princess Of Gemworld

Watchmen comics
DC Comics

The younger comic fans among us probably best know princess Amethyst from the currently running Young Justice comics. But slightly older fans know princess Amethyst from when she had her own solo series. While more recent incarnations have pushed for more high fantasy drama, the original was a charmingly fun fantasy series for girls.

Sure it definitely had its moments where the stakes jumped up significantly, but hey, it's a comic book you can get away with slightly more than a kids show so might as well take advantage. Most comic readers at the time (i.e young boys) probably skipped over this one for obvious reasons. But also because DC, like its buddy Marvel, didn't advertise it great because it didn't have Batman.

A good light fantasy series is something that everyone could use in their lives. So while most readers skipped over the original runs of Amethyst, going back to it could prove a treat. Because honestly, them trying to force Amethyst and her world to be all badass is more than a little forced, even if the current version of Amethyst in YJ is great.
