With an unknown identity, pirate Captain Leatherwing sails the seas in his ship, the Flying Fox, with cutlass in hand and first mate Alfredo by his side, all behind the veil of his bat mask. He hides behind the mask to shield his shame as a pirate, while operating under the mandate of England’s King James II, tasked with the mission of pillaging foreign vessels.

He raids and robs their riches, and keeps the treasure for himself with the goal of eventually buying back his murdered parent’s stolen land.

During the course of his adventures he acquires another compatriot, Robin Redblade, who stows away aboard his vessel at Kingston Harbour.
