10 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy DC Comics

3. Entry Requirements For The Green Lantern Corps Are Very Low

DC

The Green Lantern Corps are some of the most powerful individuals in the DC Universe, interplanetary policemen wielding power rings that allow them to create anything they can imagine (so long as it isn't yellow). Despite the fact that they wield all this power, they're pretty lax when it comes to who they recruit: Hal Jordan, the original Green Lantern of the modern age, was entrusted with one of the most potentially destructive items in the universe just because he happened upon another dying Lantern.

So all you have to do is be in the right place at the right time? And then you can be a space cop? Well, they do technically have some basic requirements, namely that the individual in question has to pure of heart or something, but even that's pretty subjective when you consider the likes of Guy Gardner have passed that little test. Gardner started off a garden-variety jerk, but in the eighties was rejigged to be a full-blown !*$% that rubbed everybody up the wrong way and didn't care.

Then again, Gardner looks like a saint compared to Jordan, who went insane, became the villain Parallax and murdered loads of people. After he got better, the Corps welcomed him back into their ranks with open arms. Mind you, they happily recruited a guy called Sinestro and didn't expect him to turn traitor. Silly old Corps.
