10 Crazy Facts You Just Have To Accept To Enjoy Marvel‏ Comics

5. Nobody Remembers Secret Identities

Secret identities aren't such a big deal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - Thor hasn't got one, everyone knows who Cap and Iron Man are, etc - but they remain an important plot point for pretty much every other superhero in the comics. Most directly it's affected Spidey, since every villain who has discovered the dork behind the mask has then threatened his loved ones, and that only got worse when he revealed that he was Peter Parker on national television during Civil War. Luckily, everyone in the Marvel Universe has a special kind of amnesia when it comes to secret identities. The Spidey one was undone with One More Day, but others have just had their revelations totally forgotten without any real reason. Perhaps the biggest recently was the brilliant Out storyline, where the press reveals that Matt Murdock is Daredevil; sure, Murdock sued the papers in question and won, but since when does winning a lawsuit mean you're innocent, and since when do people just believe what people involved in high-profile scandals say? People in the Marvel Universe. And people reading it, of course.
