10 Criminally Overlooked Characters In Comics

3. Blue Devil

Hellstorm Son of Satan
DC Comics

Daniel Cassidy, the Blue Devil, was created by Dan Mishkin, Gary Cohn, and Paris Cullins, And while he began as a “guy trapped in a suit”, he is now an actual demon from Hell with a soul. And he is carrying the Trident of Lucifer himself. With all the interest in the darker corners of the DC Universe these days, it’s a wonder why Cassidy isn’t spoken of in the same conversations as Etrigan.

Daniel Cassidy was a special effects wizard from the hard/in-camera school and stuntman that was renowned for his skills as an engineer and builder of incredible movie monsters. His latest was the Blue Devil suit that he would wear which had super strength capabilities and he created a mechanical trident that allowed him to fly. Cassidy was forced to be a hero for real when his costars released a real demon named Nebrios. Dan pushed the demon back through its portal but not before an energy blast trapped him in his suit.

After an ill-advised deal with the demon Neron, Daniel became a real demon from Hell. He was killed by the Mist after an outing with the Justice League France and later resurrected by the morally ambiguous Faust and forced to aid the Sentinels of Magic. He eventually joined Shadowpact to defy the Spectre and Eclipso’s efforts to destroy all magic.
