10 Criminally Overlooked Characters In Comics

2. Molecule Man

Hellstorm Son of Satan
Marvel Comics

Owen Reece, the Molecule Man is essentially the most powerful being in the Marvel Universe aside from the Beyonder. He is able to warp reality on a multiversal scale. When he was traveling with members of the Future Foundation, Owen and Franklin Richards created the entire universe with sentient life forms in them. The World Devourer Galactus has stated that the Molecule Man could destroy him with a thought.

Molecule Man was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby for Fantastic Four #20. After his accident at the Acme Atomics Corporation, which was actually caused by the Beyonders to create a singularity, Reece discovered he had the power to control the molecular structure of things. Because of his low self-esteem and deep psychological issues, Owen placed limits on his own powers. For years, he believed that he could not affect organic material and that he need a “wand” to focus his power.

Finding love with Marsha Rosenberg, the villain Volcana during the first Secret War, Owen and Marsha retired into anonymity but kept being bothered by villains who longed to exploit his powers and the Beyonder when he came to Earth to learn to be human. He was thought killed by the Griever of All Things but put his entire essence into one molecule and shunted it into the Microverse.
