Teens, no more!

In the story The Technis Imperative, long-lost hero Cyborg returned to main comics continuity. With the current iteration of the Teen Titans falling flat with readers, the group was reformed. However, this was no longer an underground team of upstarts. These were Titans.

Nightwing was well and truly established, as were fellow originals Donna Troy, Wally West, Tempest, and Aresenal. Rounding out the group with newcomers Argent, Jesse Quick, and Damage, and the returning Cyborg, Starfire, Beast Boy, this group established themselves firmly as a preeminent team.

Perhaps no bigger endorsement came from teammate Wally West. The current Flash at the time, West opted to leave the Justice League and rejoin his chosen family in the Titans.

The group would go on to challenge the reformed H.I.V.E. while serving as a bridge between Young Justice and the JLA, being able to speak to the younger generation and empathise with their struggles while standing up to the old guard on their own merits.

Nightwing's concern that the group being more like family than a team would eventually prove too much for him to handle when things got tough, as will be elaborated upon later.
