10 Criminally Underrated Super Teams In DC Comics

3. Secret Six

Secret Six is a team that, by all rights, should've been dead in their first outing. At the time, a disguised Alexander Luthor was assembling the Society: a conglomeration of every major super villain in the DC Universe. Most characters were quick to join at the promises of profit and power, but this was not true of everyone.

A select few refused to join. Catman. Deadshot. Scandal, the daughter of Vandal Savage. Ragman. Cheshire. And, oddly enough, a single rogue Parademon from Apokolips. Each character citing their own reasons, turned down the offer to the Society.

Luthor pointed out that if these D-tier villains refused to join, it would look bad for Society as a whole. On his orders, no less than Deathstroke lead a bulk majority of the Society to quash the Secret Six.

Miraculously, most of the group survived, and would continue to thrive. Operating strictly on their own terms, the Secret Six was perhaps one of the best examples of a dysfunctional family.

When Scandal's girlfriend, the powerhouse Knockout, is tragically killed in the lead-up to Final Crisis, the group tried to console their teammate by hiring a stripper to dress up like her old flame. Amazingly enough, it eventually worked.

The Secret Six would add and lose members throughout their tenure, but their enduring appeal and underdog status never left.
