10 Deadliest Comic Book Assassins (That You'd Totally Hire)
6. Deathstroke
Deathstroke, real name Slade Wilson, is one DC's finest assassins. Until the mid-80s, he went by Deathstroke the Terminator, but then a little movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger came out and DC changed things up to eliminate any confusion.
Deathstroke is the product of a super-soldier program, given enhanced strength and reflexes, as well as substantial military, combat, and tactical training. As a result, he has stood toe-to-toe with the best fighters in the DC universe, including most of the Batman Family, several members of the Justice League, and various versions of the Teen Titans, who he seems to reserve a special hatred for.
Not only is Wilson a master combatant, he is extremely adept at mind games, having manipulated personalities as strong as Cassandra Cain and Tara Markov (in one of the best DC story arcs ever, Teen Titans' 'The Judas Contract'.)
The look of his armour and costume, with a one-eyed mask and striking orange and blue colour scheme, is iconic, and as a result his character has been translated into many media aside from comics.
Ironically, this stoic, deadly character served as the inspiration for Marvel's beloved Wade Wilson/Deadpool, a character about as far from Deathstroke as you can get.
