Franklin Richards is one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe, so yeah, it's no wonder he's been able to defeat Galactus.
You see, Frank's an omega-level mutant, which means he's a big deal. The son of Reed and Sue Richards, a future version of the character would travel to the past to teach his younger self how to properly use his powers. The same future Frank would later resurrect Galactus (who had passed away during another storyline), and turn him into his own Herald, which is pretty cool.
The pair would be good chums for the duration of their time spent together, and as big a role reversal as it was, it worked. While Galactus is a villain in a literal sense, he does possess a moral code, and his time spent with Franklin proves that point spectacularly.
