10 Directors Who Need To Step Into The Marvel Cinematic Universe
9. Gareth Edwards
Gareth Edwards has worked under the Disney banner before, directing the first Star Wars spin off film, Rogue One. Despite the various production issues that plagued the film, it turned out to be an exciting action/war film based in the Star Wars Universe.
Edwards has a very interesting way of directing action sequences. He allows for lots of wide shots that give the audience a good view of the action. This also allows for a great sense of scale, something he did wonderfully in Godzilla and in Rogue One with the AT-AT Walkers.
There are multiple ways in which Edwards could fit in the MCU. Maybe he could use his skills of directing war scenes to direct a story about Captain America's (in the comics Nick Fury's) Howling Commandos? Similarly, his abilities with size and scale could make him a great choice to fully bring Goliath into the MCU.
Although these are tentpole blockbusters, you shouldn't underestimate Edward's ability to handle characters. His small budget film Monsters is an interesting character piece set in a post apocalyptic world. There are so many avenues that Marvel could take and Edwards would do a great job bringing them to the big screen.
