10 Disgusting Comic Book Moments That Made Us Feel Sick

1. Words Fail Me... (Crossed)

Crossedsalt The premise of Crossed is that an infection has spread worldwide which turns its victims insane, causing them to carry out their darkest thoughts. The plague is transmitted through bodily fluids, allowing creator Garth Ennis to devise a number of perverse ways to spread the infection. In a series where one man lung f**ks a dolphin and another bludgeons a man to death with a horses penis, it's hard to pick one particular moment from Crossed which is more messed up than the rest, but a scene from the very first issue is arguably the most disturbing. While on the run, a family are discovered by a group of the Crossed. Husband Joel has a bizarre notion that the infected can be stopped by salt, so he pours a circle around himself, his wife and his daughter in the hope that this will keep them safe. Oh, Joel... Of course, this doesn't work and unfortunately for the readers, we are then subjected to the most disturbing pages ever seen in a comic book. The Crossed brutally rape and murder the couple while literally shredding their child to pieces. Just to make things even worse, Ennis includes an audience of crossed masturbating and maniacally laughing as they watch the attack unfold. Some of the disgusting entries on this list can be justified to an extent as revenge from a warped characters mind, but the moment that took the number one spot is clearly nothing more than an attempt to be as horrifying as possible. Have we missed out a particularly disgusting comic book moment that revolted you to your core? And do you think it is acceptable for comics to even feature such content?
