10 Dumbest Supervillain Schemes You Won't Believe

1. Lex Luthor Tries To Destroy The World

Lex Doc Ock
DC/Marvel

One of the most famous comic crossovers is the 1976 comic, Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man. In the story, Lex Luthor allies with Doctor Octopus to thwart their arch-enemies. Luthor dresses up as Superman and kidnaps Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson. When the real Superman appears, Spider-Man assumes he's a baddie and the two duke it out.

The two heroes realise they have been duped by Luthor and so, join forces to stop him. Luthor and Doc Ock head to space to take control over a weather machine to destroy all civilisation unless Luthor is paid $10 billion.

If this was any other supervillain, you would assume this demand is a bluff. But this is Lex Luthor we are talking about. He's in his own league of crazy. When Superman and Spider-Man appear, Luthor activates the weather machine, causing hurricanes and tsunamis to appear all over the world.

Lex... why are you trying to destroy Earth? You live there. All of your stuff is there. If you succeed, where are you going to live? Even Doctor Octopus points out how stupid Luthor's plan is. For such a classic story, the writers could have come up with a better scheme for the villains.
