10 Dystopian Futures Of Comic Book Superheroes

7. Hulk: The End

X-Men Days Of Future Past
Marvel Comics

In yet another distant dystopian future, only the Hulk remains. Following a nuclear holocaust, Bruce Banner is the only man left alive.

Together with his Rampaging Hulk dark passenger and a floating video camera system to record his sad eulogies, Banner wanders the Earth waiting for death. Hulk meanwhile, is still out to prove that he is the strongest one there is... and finally rid himself of puny Banner.

As with almost everyone else on this list, there are no happy endings to be found. Following a number of unsuccessful suicide attempts (and a gory battle with giant cockroaches) Banner suffers a massive, fatal heart attack and transforms into the Hulk at the moment of death. Knowing that reverting to his Banner form will cause death, Hulk is finally left alone, and for good.

It's a bittersweet moment for the green Goliath: not only is Hulk the strongest one there is, but now he's the only one there is.
